Find the right temperatur for sowing legume seed
Legume seed has different soil temperatur requirements for sowing.
Some crops need to get into the soil as soon as the soil is ready for cultivation. This applies to crops such as oats, fava bean and field pea.
Check soil temperature before sowing
The situation is different with species of legumes that have different soil temperature requirements for sowing. Therefore, always check the soil temperature before you start sowing.
This can be done in different ways. You can follow the soil temperature at Landbrugsinfo.dk. By using a postcode, you can see the current soil temperature locally and a forecast of the development over the next 7 days. Soil temperature is measured at a depth of 10 cm. This is also the depth you should use if you decide to make your own temperature measurement.
Please note that the forecast at Landbrugsinfo.dk is based on air temperature, so if the weather forecast indicates a higher amount of rainfall, it may cause the soil temperature to drop, even if the forecast does not show it.
